La poétique du Mystère dans la composition dramatique et la prose poétique de Faubert Bolivar. Lecture de La Flambeau et de Sainte Dérivée des trottoirs

Abstract : La Flambeau (a play) and Sainte Dérivée des trottoirs (a poetic prose) by Faubert Bolivar differ formally and generically. Nonetheless both creations present major converging themes, such as madness, singular expressions of intimacy, extimacy and the religious, which convey the possible extremes of certain Haitian realities. In both texts the ties between characters, language (langaj), objects and spaces seem to be marked by a certain break with realism and likely to produce a surrealistic or even absurd impression. The texts share a poetics pertaining to the order of Mystery, manifesting itself through the expression of the unutterable, the variation of language, the strategy of constructing and deconstructing real, imaginary and symbolic spaces, the elusive traits of a syncretic culture (individual and collective), the intrusion of invisible spirits (voodoo) and of delirium in real, imaginary, intimate and extimate spaces. Our study shows that this poetics positions itself both in the margins and in the continuation of contemporary Haitian literature.
