« La World music savante : une nouvelle identité culturelle de la musique contemporaine ? »

Abstract : The term “World Music savante" (World scholarly Music) is adopted here to serve as a crutch for questioning the emergence and consolidation of a new culture or a contemporary elitist musical tradition, a new culture that crystallizes a multiple and heterogeneous reality. Through this qualification, it is also, for me, a way of wondering about the contemporaneity of the current scholarly music. It would therefore be difficult to discuss such a phenomenon without first defining it and justifying the choice of the expression by which it is designated, by suggesting some benchmarks likely to give the term a more or less acceptable and appreciated content.
