Vers une didactique du français langue en contact en Guadeloupe : problématiques et actions de recherche

Abstract : This article proposes an inventory of research axes, field actions and training plans conducted in French didactics in Guadeloupe in order to draw some lines of thought. This French overseas mono-departmental region located in the French West Indies is characterized by a particular sociolinguistic context with French as a national and official language of schooling, and Creole as a regional living language taught optionally. The presence of these two languages on this territory and their frequent use by the population does not give rise to phenomena of language contact (Boyer 2010, Lüdi 2011, Simonin & Wharton 2013), code switching and code mixing (Anciaux, 2017, Duverger, 2007, Moore, 2001), and even fused lects (Auer, 1996; Castellotti, 2001; Ledegen, 2012; Prudent, 1981), both in private conversations and in didactic interactions (Cicurel, 1984). Thus, researchers, teachers and trainers in French didactics in Guadeloupe are often confronted with the question of the place of the Creole language from kindergarten to university, but also in special arrangements welcoming incoming foreign students or migrant adults. Should we teach French in a classical way in Guadeloupe? Can we use strategies related to didactics of French as a second or foreign language and didactics of multilingualism (Candelier & Castellotti, 2013)? Or is it necessary to think of a didactic of the French language in specific contact with this territory? This is the type of questioning to which this article wishes to provide some elements of answer without claiming either the completeness or the proposal of pedagogical recommendations.
