International Migrations and The Golden Rule Whith Heterogeneous Individuals
Résumé
In Galor (1986), individuals differ in time preference and the Golden Rule plays a role on the direction of the international migration flows. In Gaumont & Mesnard (2000, 2001) individuals differ in altruism and the Golden Rule does not play any role on migration flows. In a unique model which encompasses both approaches, we propose a way to compute the Golden Rule when individuals differ in altruism, as well as when they also differ in time preferences. Bilateral migration flows are independent of the Golden Rule. Both countries are populated in post-migration equilibrium. International migration is not Pareto improving.
